Q1 '24: Finding a way forward
Hello, and nice to see you, welcome.
A bit late to the party but I finally got my internet corner sorted out. Nothing fancy but it is my own.
A slow start to 2024 but a good one for my journey, not about the beginning or the end but the whole ride.
After a terrible 2023, the new year brought me something I was looking for, a way forward.
Struggling for months, not knowing where to head with my career, experimenting with different areas and technologies, treading paths that now I can firmly say I do not want to cross again, I have a much clearer vision now.
Having a broad spectrum of interests, keeping my focus on a single thing is quite challenging. So, reducing the scope of what interests me, is my small win for this first quarter. Altough I still know that if I have questions about something new, I know that I have no fears venturing into new paths.
Lately I have been interested in how browsers work, and what powers network communications. By scavenging Servo’s source code I took quite a liking to the net packages and even managed to add a couple of small features to some Servo dependencies.
This was the start of what sparked me to dive deeper in different domains, knowing the inner workings of a specific part of the browser, and also becoming fascinated about performance and what is behind all the abstractions of an OS.
Looking forward to keep diving into these topics and finding things I am particular fond of. I aim to detail findings and keep notes so that when I eventually go back on some roads, I still know my way around.
